I purchased this item due to the positive reviews posted. Maybe the other reviewers received a functional cable or they are not aware of this problem. The left and right channels are reversed on the cable I received. I noticed the reversal when I played “Take Five” by Dave Brubeck’s Time Out album on my iPhone 4. The piano iwas playing on the left instead of right and the drums were on the right instead of left. Moreover the bass which is centered sounded like is was coming from the bottom of the vehicle. I then played some test tracks from an audiophile album and confirmed the reversal. I compared it with my home audio and another cable to confirm the reversal. I love the concept of combining the USB and audio cables into one but I only gave this one star because at least for me the reversal of the channels is something I cannot live with. Makes everything sound backwards and the imaging is towards the back not at the front. I will try anther one just to see if this is fluke or if they are all alike.

This thing works well. Nothing special really – it’s not very expensive and does exactly what it’s supposed to. I’ve had it for a little over a month now and no problems with it yet.

I used to have a cable just like this for my car that was sold by Newer Technology but after it got crashed by some bags in my car, I needed a new one. I got this one since I couldn’t find the same one I use to have, and also this one is way cheaper. But I swear, it’s the same exact cable! it looks the same, and it works just like my old one.

As a side note, the static noise you sometimes hear if you use a cable like this, comes from a ground loop with your aux input and 12V socket. My 07 Prius had the same issue, and I got an inline RF filter which made it a little better, but after reading some forums, I found that I can just ask my dealer to put in a filter circuit for free! I haven’t had any issues ever since. So if you get a noise using this cable in a car, chances are that you need a RF filter, and it’s not the cable’s fault. Try unplugging the USB plug from 12V charger, and if noise goes away, then get an RF filter installed. Or just use it without the charger. It will still sound better than using mini jack to mini jack cable from the headphone output…

this works for getting a clean, strong audio signal out of my ipod touch 2g, but when it’s plugged in, the volume controls on the ipod disappear. wierd. so if you don’t have volume controls on the device you are sending the signal to, be prepared for some loudness.
